Farewell to The Ton O’ Sissys Saloon…Hello to the Lot O’ Boats Lodge…

salooncoverIf there’s one thing us HotDish Hellions never run out of, is a place to drink our booze, or a place to eat pizza, or bank, or fill up our car with gas, or a place to buy second hand clothing…but i digress…

Ton O’ Sissys Saloon, formerly owned by Jim Curtain, sold his slice of saloontonosissysincarribean paradise at auction and with new owners the opening of Lot O’ Boats Lodge takes it’s place. With a more rustic north woodsy feeling, the Lodge will boister much of the same menu, liquor, and tomfoolery as it’s predecessor.

Pulled pork sandwiches and bottled beer, painted walls and hi-top tables are the improvements made to the renovated saloon.

saloontonosissysSummerime was when the Ton O’ Sissys shined. With their large patio, live weekend shows, candle lit patios and barbecued grub gave you a sense of being on vacation. Winter time was always a saloonlotoboatsinhard time with limited indoor space, and open patio with the wind coming in off the lake; not many patrons braved the elements to enjoy a drink.

So lets welcome the Ton O’ Boats Lodge and wish for the best.

I have to admit, the pics leave me wanting more. What is it about the sun that makes people relax? The warmth? The ocean? One of my favorite eateries in town is Boston Pizza. During the summer they have their patio open and I take advantage of it with my family to ease into a pleasant meal by the sunset. Something calming about the whole atmosphere. The mood certainly makes for a great evening. Hmm…I think I’ll pay a visit this weekend, even though the patio will be closed, we’ll still enjoy some great food and company!

i think atmosphere makes the restaurant. Sometimes, it’s the time of day as well. I liked “Ton O’ Sissys” during the afternoon in summer. sit on the deck, overlooking the lake, reggae in the background, beer in my hand.
